About: Shan Wareing is responsible for the University's Student Enterprise and Employability (SEE), and the Centre for Learning and Teaching in Art and Design. She has responsibility for the institutional Learning and Teaching Strategy, and is lead author of two sections of the University Strategy 2012-15. Her institutional change projects include student representation, retention, assessment, digital literacies, and supporting students from admission to employment and further study. She has taught in Higher Education since 1989. Her background is in English Language and Literature: she has a BA from Oxford University, an MLitt and PhD from Strathclyde University, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education Studies from the Institute of Education. She is a Fellow of the Staff and Educational Development Association, and co-ordinates SEDA’s range of Fellowships for staff in educational development in the UK and internationally. She has worked in pre-92 and post-92 universities, and in Wales, Scotland and England, including holding a visiting professorship in linguistics at Michigan State University, USA, and teaching English for Academic Purposes in Japan, as well as working for shorter periods in Georgia, Spain and Germany. She is a QAA Institutional Reviewer, and in 2011, she was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship.
