About: Peter Bond works between performance art and theatre. He has published ‘Locating Performance, Performance Related Text’ and is currently undergoing a major project with publishers I.B. Tauris to write a volume called ‘Performance Art: A Guided Tour’, due for publication in September 2012. As well as writing about performance as a theoretical and historical concept he also makes performances that centre on the fear of performance art and indeed performing itself. His performances hover between drama and characterisation and himself as a body outside of this. He portrays characters that intersperse with his own experiences, his own nerves and his own fear of performing or being subject to audience scrutiny. Each performance is individually tailored for each location of the event and his likely audience. Themes of his performances include the origin of language, art history, shopping, obsessive compulsion disorders, emerging cultures and fashions, blind spots, popular entertainment, remembering and forgetting. His most controversial project was to accept an invitation from the Legal Commission to be an expert witness for performance art in a case where the accused claimed that his ‘terrorist’ actions where part of a performance art event.
