About: Dilys Williams is a fashion designer, collaborator and creator of Centre for Sustainable Fashion, a University of the Arts London Research Centre. Engaging translational leadership to evolve the purpose of the centre’s activities, her work draws on extensive experience of setting up and guiding teams across the fashion spectrum. Nurturing qualities in individuals and teams, Dilys enables the creation of high quality, knowledge led new work. Her academic interests focus on design for sustainability and its application into fashion contexts through research, teaching and learning and design functions in industry. Her work is grounded in sustainability thinking applied to industry practice, examples include experimenting with critical design considerations, not previously practiced whilst designing Katharine Hamnett womens’ lines and setting up and leading Liberty’s Womenswear team. Creating flow between academic research, government initiatives and industry practice, her work on Defra's Sustainable Clothing Roadmap and APPG on Sustainability and Fashion are examples of dynamic three way exploration of key themes of sustainability, seeking ways to support human fulfillment and nature’s resilience through fashion activities.
