About: David Moore has been a London-based practising photographer since 1989 after graduating from West Surrey College of Art and Design. where he was taught by Martin Parr and Paul Graham. He has had comprehensive experience of the medium in that time, continuously exhibiting and publishing his work. His work is held in public and private collections and he has been the recipient of several major funding awards from Arts Council England and The British Council, amongst others. David is a widely published and exhibited photographic practitioner using documentary modes to observe state and social apparatus and challenge the medium itself. Recent practice particularly has centred around the representation of 'State apparatus' , that is secret and unseen sites relating to government and military activity His 2008 book publication and touring exhibition, The Last Things (Dewi Lewis Publishing), developed this idea and, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, David made photographs of a live crisis command centre in central London, never before photographed. One main aspect of David's work is to create spectacle from power and and produce an examination of state and social apparatus.
